The Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA) envisions a world without CMT, a genetic neuropathy that impacts more than 3 million people worldwide. Their mission: accelerate treatments, improve quality of life, and ultimately find a cure.
CMTA’s previous WordPress site was overwhelming for users and difficult to maintain. The resource directory returned inaccurate results, the navigation was cluttered, and accessibility gaps made it hard for visitors to find what they needed. With over 400 pages of content and a hard-coded backend, the site limited the team’s ability to share stories, engage donors, and support their community.
CMTA partnered with Culture Foundry to reimagine its digital presence. Through workshops, UX strategy, and a content overhaul, we built a streamlined, mobile-first website grounded in clarity and accessibility.
At its heart is “Your CMTA Pathway,” a personalized feature that helps patients, families, donors, and researchers quickly find the resources most relevant to them. Powered by Culture Foundry’s custom editor experience and Gutenberg components, the new platform delivers intuitive editing, fast performance, and a sustainable foundation built to grow with CMTA.
The new cmtausa.org is a welcoming, accessible home where users can easily connect to resources, research, and community. Early results show stronger engagement, smoother navigation, and more visitors taking action to support CMTA’s mission, proof that when technology is built with care and purpose, it can move a community closer to a cure.
